Seminars and workshops

Nord Pool Consulting has during a number of years provided advice and consultancy services and offered client tailor made seminars to the power industry worldwide focusing on the Nordic power exchange - Nord Pool - and the Nordic power market.

The seminars are lasting from half  a day to four weeks and will be designed in close cooperation with the client. The seminars are based on the seven listed modules but topics can be added or removed in line with the wishes of the client.

A visit to the Nord Pool Spot desk and the financial desk will normally be included in the seminars lasting more than one day. For seminars lasting a week or more, business visits will be included and participation certificates issued. These seminars is also offered as in-house training.

Mini seminar "the Nordic power market"

What we call mini seminar is a three hour long lasting presentation, where the client is introduced to the Nordic power market concept and the main principles. Additionally, the most important facts and figures are presented.

The objective is to enable the client to understand the most important facts and figures, which describe the Nordic power market.

The target group is clients searching for a concentrated, but complete presentation of power market concepts.

One-day seminar "power market concepts"

During a one-day seminar the client is introduced to power market concepts and the main principles and detailed facts/figures. In addition, the client is presented the most important details regarding electricity price determination, congestion management, imbalance management, reference price, risk management and hedging/trading with derivatives.

It is also reserved time for discussion of experiences, where the client is presented the main changes the power market deregulation and supply reform has imposed on electricity sectors.

The objective is not only to enable the client to understand the most important facts and figures, but also to experience the different aspects of the competitive environment in electricity sectors.

The target group is clients searching for a concentrated, but complete presentation of power market concepts.

Five-days combined seminar and workshop "power market concepts"

The combined seminar and workshops covers all important issues connected to a competitive power market and adds detailed explanations and cases where appropriate for additional understanding.

The client is presented the main responsibilities and roles in deregulated power markets and how different companies handle their tasks.

It also widens the spectre by including Continental Europe, USA and other markets and the differences between their way of handling important issues.

The client also has the opportunity to - on a simplified basis - simulate participation in day-ahead market and derivatives trading, portfolio management and risk management.

The objective is to enable the client to make his own opinion about market developments, regulations and framework. The client shall be able to discuss power market issues on a professional basis after attending this combined seminar and workshop.

The target group is clients searching for a detailed knowledge of the electricity markets.

Multiple days combined seminars and workshops "comprehensive power market concepts

The multiple-days seminar lasting from 6-20 days is based on the five-day combined seminar and workshop. However, dependent of number of seminar days there is more time for in-depth-training, introduction of other topics, practical exercises, discussions, exam etc.

In most cases the seminar will also include business visits to the regulator, some of the major companies trading at Nord Pool, the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy and possibly a visit to one ore more hydro power plants. There will also be a 1-2-day seminar in the premises of the Norwegian transmission system operator (TSO) included in the programme.

The objective is to provide the client with a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the Nordic electricity market as such and Nord Pool in particular. To place Nord Pool in an European context also other European power markets will be analysed.  Certificates for participation in the seminar, and if desirable, for passed exam, will be issued.
